The University of Michigan has more living alumni than any other American university. The number of Jewish alums is also very large, partly because the University of Michigan was one of the first major state schools to admit large numbers of Jews and because Michigan has a national reputation for being a great school for Jewish students. Those numbers are also likely to grow. The percentage of freshman who self-identified as Jewish in last year's UCLA national freshman survey declined 10% but the percentage at Michigan increased by 11%.

University of Michigan alums tend to remain passionately loyal to the University, particularly on football days, and Jewish alums perhaps most of all. (Why? Is this a Jewish thing?) If you're an alum and would like periodic updates about what is happening on campus please sign up on our alumni mailing list. It's a great opportunity to learn what is happening at Michigan in general and in the campus Jewish community inparticular.

Working with the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, Hillel has just established the   U of M Association of Jewish Alumni. UMAJA is free to join and includes benefits such as homecoming weekend, a monthly e-newsletter, and networking!  Go to www.umaja.org to find out more information.

Kadima k'chol - Go Blue. And if you want a Go Blue in Hebrew refrigerator magnet or any of a variety of Michigan in Hebrew paraphernalia to flaunt your maize and blue pride and make your less fortunate friends gnash their teeth, check out our online store.
