The U-M Hillel is pleased to be able provide a variety of opportunities for U-M students, faculty, and the broader Ann Arbor community to be able to come together to observe the High Holidays. In order to best celebrate the diversity of Jewish life and practice on campus we currently host Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform High Holiday services that brings together hundreds of students at this important time of year.

Students are also welcome to sign up for High Holiday meals. Holiday meals that coincide with Friday night are free for students. (This does not include the Pre-Fast meal.) Other meals can be reserved and paid for below.

Right after Yom Kippur many students come to Hillel to build the community sukkah where lunch and dinner are served every day. There is often a community-wide celebration of Simchat Torah, and Chanukah is celebrated with menorah lighting both at Hillel and in residence hall lounges. Winter Semester Holidays

In past years Hillel students have organized special seders for Tu B'Shevat, including a seder put together by the Hayerukim group. Purim is BIG at Michigan with costumes, all kinds of groggers (noisemakers) and two different megillah readings.

PASSOVER

Hillel makes a special effort to ensure that students feel welcome during Passover, where we have hosted several hundred students at Hillel for a variety of seders, and supported students to host seder meals in their apartments and homes for several hundred students as well. Additionally members of the Ann Arbor Jewish community often invite students to their homes as well.

Hillel provides kosher for Passover meal options for the Hillel community but reservations need to be made early. For more information click here.

Shavuot takes place after winter term when most students have left campus, so there are several opportunities to celebrate with other Jewish communities in Ann Arbor.
